One peaceful evening, after catching waves along the San Clemente coast, Santa stopped by the Candy Shop for a little holiday pick-me-up. Inspired by the village’s charm, he sprinkled a bit of North Pole magic onto a fresh batch of gingerbread cookies cooling on the counter.

In an instant, two gingerbread men came to life!

The first, Sunny Sam, sparkled with a golden glow, capturing the warmth of the California sun. Sunny Sam decided to stay hidden in one spot all season, offering a grand prize of $500 to one of the lucky seekers who found him.

The second, Toasty Tanner, couldn’t resist a game of hide-and-seek. Each week, Toasty Tanner would find a new hiding place, rewarding sharp-eyed adventurers with fun weekly prizes.

Now, every holiday season, Sunny Sam and Toasty Tanner bring joy and excitement to Santa Clemente Village, making the holidays a little sweeter and a lot more magical. Will you be the one to find them? Let the hunt begin!

But don’t let his chill demeanor fool you—Tanner is a master of hide-and-seek! Every week, he sneaks off to a new hiding spot somewhere in the center, waiting for sharp-eyed explorers to find him. Spot Tanner, snap a photo, and you’ll be entered to win exciting weekly prizes!

Shining bright like the California sun, Sunny Sam is the golden gingerbread man of Santa Clemente Village. Born from the enchanted oven of the Candy Shop, Sam sparkles with a radiant golden hue, making him a true treasure of the holiday season.

Unlike his adventurous counterpart, Toasty Tanner, Sunny Sam prefers to keep a low profile, hiding in one secret spot all season long. But don’t be fooled—finding him is no easy feat! Those who do will be entered to win the grand prize of a $500 OSC gift card.

How It Works

Search

Explore Outlets at San Clemente to find our two mischievous gingerbread men: Toasty Tanner and Sunny Sam. Tanner loves to hide in new places every Saturday, while Sam stays hidden in the same magical spot all season. Keep your eyes peeled and see if you can spot them among our holiday decor.

Snap a Photo

Once you’ve discovered Toasty Tanner or Sunny Sam, snap a photo to capture the moment! Make sure your photo clearly shows our gingerbread friend in his hiding place, so you’re all set for the next step.

Customer Service

Head over to the Outlets at San Clemente Customer Service desk and show your photo. Our friendly team will take down your name, email, and phone number to enter you into the weekly prize drawing or, if you found Starlight, for the grand prize. Remember: you need to check in with customer service to be eligible!

When does The Great Gingerbread Man Hunt take place

The hunt runs from November 25 through December 20. Each week, Toasty Tanner moves to a new hiding spot every Tuesday, and you can search for him from Tuesday through Sunday. Sunny Sam remains hidden in one secret location all season long.

Can I participate in both hunts?

Absolutely! You can search for both Toasty Tanner and Sunny Sam. Just make sure to register each photo separately with Customer Service to be entered into the appropriate prize drawings.

What prizes can I win?

Each week, one lucky person who finds Toasty Tanner will win a special prize. The grand prize for finding Sunny Sam, our golden gingerbread man, is $500. Winners are announced on Mondays, so be sure to check Instagram!

Can kids participate in the hunt?

Yes! The hunt is fun for the whole family. Children under 18 will need a parent or guardian’s permission to register for the prize drawings.

How many times can I enter?

You can enter once per week for finding Toasty Tanner and once this holidy season for finding Sunny Sam. That means you have multiple chances to win throughout the holiday season! You can search for him from Tuesday through Sunday. Sunny Sam remains hidden in one secret location all season long.

Where do I go to show my photo?

Head over to our Customer Service desk, and a team member will take your details to register your entry.

How will I know if I’ve won?

Winners will be announced every Monday on our Instagram page, and we’ll also contact winners directly using the information provided when you registered your photo.

Do I have to follow Outlets at San Clemente on Instagram to participate?

While following us isn’t required to enter, we highly recommend it! We post winner announcements, fun hints, and updates you won’t want to miss.

Terms & Conditions

Eligibility: The Great Gingerbread Man Hunt is open to all ages. Participants under the age of 18 must have parental or guardian consent to participate and claim any prizes.

Participation Rules:

No purchase necessary to participate.
To be entered into the weekly or grand prize draw, participants must locate the gingerbread men and take a clear photo of them.
Photos must be shown to the Outlets at San Clemente Customer Service team to register for the contest. Only photos taken during the specified event dates will be eligible.

Prize Details:

Weekly prizes will vary and are subject to availability. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other items.
The grand prize of $500 gift card will be awarded to one participant who finds the Golden Gingerbread Man and enters to win. The winner will be announced on December 23, 2024.
Winners will be selected randomly from eligible entries and notified via the contact information provided.

Entry Limitations:

Participants can submit one entry per week for Toasty Tanner. Duplicate submissions within the same week will not be counted.
Participants can submit one entry for the golden gingerbread man per promotional season.
Employees of Outlets at San Clemente and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.

Winner Notification:

Weekly winners will be announced each Monday on Outlets at San Clemente’s social media channels and contacted directly. If a winner cannot be reached within 48 hours, a new winner may be selected.
The Golden Gingerbread Man grand prize winner will be notified on December 23, 2024. Failure to respond within 48 hours may result in forfeiture of the prize, and a new winner may be selected.

Use of Personal Information:

By participating, entrants consent to the collection and use of their name, email, and phone number for contest purposes. Outlets at San Clemente will not share this information with third parties.
Participants agree to allow Outlets at San Clemente to use photos taken for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, marketing, and advertising.

Liability Release:

Outlets at San Clemente is not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or damages that occur while participating in The Great Gingerbread Man Hunt.
By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Outlets at San Clemente, its employees, and partners from any and all liability.

Modification & Termination:

Outlets at San Clemente reserves the right to modify or terminate The Great Gingerbread Man Hunt at any time, for any reason, without notice.
